MXM Upgrade was founded early 2006 as a "proof of concept" project by Kris Verbeeck. While working in the embedded computing industry he came across the MXM formfactor and he quickly acknowledged it's potential in his market. However, to his dismay and astonishment, he quickly found out information about MXM was scarce and availability of actual cards on the market was non-existent.
During 2006, all available MXM information was grouped on the website and the first trials and upgrades were carried out. By the end of 2006, MXM Upgrade was the most comprehensive source of MXM information on the net and better cards became available.
The MXM Upgrade project left it's proof of concept stage early 2007 and was founded as a company under Belgian law. Since then, it has steadily grown. Most of the revenue was invested in research, allowing more upgrade and replacement options and 
charting some of the pitfalls the MXM business has. MXM Upgrade has also demonstrated it's ability to provide a worldwide service.
2008 saw the continuing growth of the company, as well as the introduction of better and more reliable sources of cards. This led to a price decrease which has made buying a MXM replacement card an interesting alternative to writting off a perfectly fine notebook. More importantly, it has allowed us to cater to the needs of business accounts with the correct level of reliability and continuity.
August 2009 saw the need to change form once more. The increased efforts and increasing succes in the "B2B" market called for a more stable platform which was created in the form of "FTR&F bvba". The company's name reflects what it stands for: First Time Right and First Things First. As of august 2009, all activities from MXM Upgrade are taken over by FTR&F.
